KPOP DEMON HUNTERS Ends Its Netflix Run with 325.1 Million Views and Breaks Records
The animated hit KPop Demon Hunters has officially wrapped its 91-day run on Netflix, and it went out on top. The film pulled in a staggering 325.1 million views, making it the most watched title on the platform’s history, topping every movie and TV show that’s ever dropped on the streamer.
According to What’s on Netflix, the movie’s tracking window closed on September 19 after launching on June 20. Netflix tracks new releases for 91 days, and in that time KPop Demon Hunters crushed every record in sight.
Back in August, it overtook Red Notice as Netflix’s most popular film ever. Then earlier this month it went even further, dethroning Squid Game Season 1 as the platform’s biggest release overall. That series had held the crown for four years with 265.2 million views, but now the number to beat is a jaw-dropping 325.1 million.
Since its release, the movie has exploded beyond streaming. Multiple tracks from the soundtrack have charted globally, with “Golden” climbing all the way to number one.
The hype has only fueled talk of a sequel, with reports suggesting Netflix is considering a full trilogy, a live-action adaptation, and even a stage production. On top of that, fans may not have to wait long for more. A new animated short is reportedly in the works that could serve as an origin story for Huntr/x.
For those who haven’t jumped in yet, KPop Demon Hunters follows Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, the powerhouse trio behind Huntr/x, as they battle supernatural forces with their music. Their fight gets complicated when the rival boy band Saja Boys enters the scene, aiming to steal their spotlight and their fans.
With this kind of success, it’s safe to say KPop Demon Hunters has become a pop culture force all its own. The movie is still streaming on Netflix, and if you haven’t watched it yet, now’s the time to see what the hype is all about.
