Kristen Bell Set to Star in and Produce Untitled Religious Comedy Series From Creator Erin Foster at Netflix
Actress Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars, Frozen) has signed on to star in and executive produce an untitled religious comedy from creator and executive producer Erin Foster, who has previously acted in series like The O.C. and Barely Famous. The series was greenlit at Netflix, and it comes from 20th Television, where sisters Erin and Sara Foster have a pod deal.
The show, previously known as Shiksa, had been in negotiations at the streamer for the past couple of months, and is loosely based on Foster’s real-life experiences. It centers on the unlikely relationship between an irreverent, outspoken, agnostic woman (Bell) and an unconventional rabbi.
Foster wrote, starred in and executive produced with Liz Meriwether the 20th TV-produced Fox comedy pilot Daddy Issues, which also starred Don Johnson. Erin and Sara Foster, daughters of music producer David Foster, also co-created, executive produced and starred in reality parody Barely Famous, which aired for two seasons on VH1.
Bell was most recently seen in the comedy The People We Hate in the Wedding, and last year worked with Netflix on the limited parody series, The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window.
