Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska Set To Star in Elizabeth Banks' CHARLIE'S ANGELS
Director Elizabeth Banks has cast her angels for the latest film adaptation of Charlie's Angels. According to Variety, Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott (Aladdin, Power Rangers) and Ella Balinska (Midsomer Murders) have officially joined the film with Banks taking on the role of Bosley.
The film will focus on the next generation of Angels working for the mysterious Charlie. Since the original films, the Townsend Agency has grown considerably and gone global, providing security and intelligence services to a wide variety of private clients with offices and highly-trained teams worldwide. This film focuses on one of those teams.
When talking about the new Charlie's Angels film and why she's excited about it, Banks had this to say in a statement:
"Charlie’s Angels, for me, is one of the original brands to celebrate the empowered woman since its debut in the ’70s. This film honors the legacy of Charles Townsend and his agency while introducing a new era of modern and global Angels. I couldn’t be more excited to work with Kristen, Naomi and Ella to bring this chapter to fans around the world."
I guess we'll have to see how this turns out. I like Banks and the work she's done, but there's nothing really about this film project yet that has grabbed my excitement. It's just another remake.
The most recent draft of the script was written by Jay Basu and Banks, based on earlier drafts by Craig Mazin and Semi Chellas. The movie will be released on September 27, 2019.
What are your thoughts on the casting for the movie?
