Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo, who recently worked together on Barb & Star Go To Vista Del Mar, have teamed up with Disney to develop a live-action Untitled Cinderella Evil Stepsisters film. As of right now, the two talents are currently only just writing the script, it’s unknown if they will also end up starring in the film.

According to the report, even if Wiig and Mumolo do appear in the film, they won’t play the stepsisters. The plan is to cast younger actresses for those roles.

The film will be a “fairy tale musical comedy that re-imagines the Cinderella classic from the point of view of her infamous evil stepsisters. Spanning from their early childhood through the marriage of their universally beloved stepsister and beyond, we follow Anastasia and Drizella Tremaine as they struggle to uphold their family’s legacy.”

While I’ve never really had any interest in watching a film about the two evil stepsisters in Cinderella, with Wiig and Mumolo writing the script, there’s no doubt the film is going to be funny. The two also previously worked together on Bridesmaids.

Will Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum from Gloria Sanchez Productions will produce. What do you think about Disney developing a Cinderella Evil Stepsister movie with Wiig and Mumolo?
