Kristen Wiig to Star in Period Comedy Series MRS. AMERICAN PIE at Apple TV+ With Laura Dern Producing

Kristen Wiig (SNL, Bridesmaids, Wonder Woman 1984) has signed on to star in the period comedy series Mrs. American Pie that is headed to Apple TV+. The 10-part series is based on Juliet McDaniel’s book of the same name, and it has Laura Dern on board to executive produce. Dern is also eyeing a “key role” in the series.

In the show, “Wiig will play Maxine Simmons as she attempts to secure her seat at America’s most exclusive table: Palm Beach high society. As Maxine attempts to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have-nots, Mrs. American Pie asks the questions: Who gets a seat at the table? How do you get a seat at the table? And what will you sacrifice to get there?”

Abe Sylvia (George & Tammy) will write, executive produce, and showrun the series. Breaking News in Yuba County director Tate Taylor will direct and executive produce.

This will be Wiig’s first project at Apple, and she can currently be seen on the Peacock series MacGruber.
