Film, TV, and Broadway actress Kristin Chenoweth, known for her roles in Broadway’s Wicked, the series Pushing Daisies, and many voice roles, has signed on to star in an upcoming comedy series at Disney+ called The Biggest Star In Appleton. The half-hour series was created and written by Paul Rudnick (Sister Act, In & Out).

Deadline provides the following synopsis:

The Biggest Star In Appleton stars Chenoweth as Carol Dannhauser, a Wisconsin mom, wife and waitress who, while devoted to her family, finds her deepest satisfaction in small town stardom at the local community theater. Her status is threatened when Tara Hubley, a struggling New York chorus girl, moves back home with dreams of her own.

This sounds like a fun and perfect project for Chenoweth and Rudnick. Both are funny, and Chenoweth can showcase her beautiful voice in this role. She’s a real small town girl herself, having grown up in Oklahoma, so I think she will shine in this part.
