KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS Music Video - Regina Spektor’s “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”

Kubo and the Two Strings is one of my favorite and one of the best films of the year. I saw it a few weeks ago, and you can read my review of it here in case you missed it. When I saw it for the first time, I had no idea that Regina Spektor had done a cover of The Beatles classic “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” for it.

The film ended with this song, and as the credits started to roll my eyes just swelled up with some kind of salty watery substance. It’s such a perfect song to end the film, and it’s seriously a beautiful rendition.

I almost want to say the song is a spoiler. It was just a complete surprise for me, and it was a combination of elements that created a complete experience of bliss. As a fan of Regina Spektor and this being one of my favorite songs from The Beatles, mixed with the story that this film told, it was just a perfect storm of emotions.

Focus Features has released a music video for you to watch below. It’s nearly three minutes long, and it features a ton of new footage from the film! I should also note that this is a shorter version of the song. You can watch the music video below or wait until you see the movie so you can experience it in context with the film for the first time.

Kubo and the Two Strings comes out this weekend, and I can’t wait to see it again with my kids!

Regina Spektor's performance of George Harrison's classic, "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" from Kubo and the Two Strings' Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, available now. The epic action-adventure film from acclaimed animation studio LAIKA hits theaters Friday, August 19th. The soundtrack and the film's original score is written and conducted by Academy Award winning composer, Dario Marianelli.
