Kumail Nanjiani Talks About the Possibility of ETERNALS 2 and Says He Would Love to Work With MS. MARVEL

A few months ago, actor and comedian Patton Oswalt made an appearance on the Today show, and he confirmed that an Eternals sequel was in the works, even going as far as to say that director Chloe Zhao would be back to direct, and that he and Harry Styles will return as their post-credits scene characters, Pip and Starfox.

News has ceased since then from any other sources, and Eternals 2 doesn’t seem to be in any Marvel news, so fans have wondered what’s up. But recently, another star of the film, Kumail Nanjiani, sat down with the Bingeworthy podcast (via The Playlist), and he confirmed he hasn’t heard anything about a second movie. But he said he’s absolutely open to one if it came along. He had a blast playing Kingo, and when asked about the rumor, he explained:

“I have no idea. I don’t think Patton was right. I think that there was a hoax website – one of those where it’s like one letter off from the real one. They tweeted it, and it spread around and I think that’s what Patton saw. I honestly don’t know anything. I would love for Kingo to come back. I love playing that character…That one’s very fun to play, you’re just in a good mood. You do finger guns, you’re like a movie star – what’s not to love? You’re just in a good mood the entire time.”

He went on to add:

“I shot that movie for five months and I think I smiled straight for five months, so I would love to come back and I love what the MCU is doing now. I just saw ‘Black Panther 2‘ and I was really, really blown away. So, I’d love to come back, but I genuinely have no idea if or when.”

When asked who he’d like to see Kingo paired up with in the MCU, Nanjiani said:

“I would love to pair up with Ms. Marvel! I just love that show and I thought Iman [Vellani] was so good and I just got to meet her and hang out with her for the first time and she’s just such a talented actor and such a wonderful human being and I think we’d be great on screen together. I’d love to be paired up with Ms. Marvel.”

After the less than stellar reception from fans, maybe Eternals 2 is on the proverbial backburner. It would be a shame to waste a cast that includes Nanjiani, Angelina Jolie, Kit Harington, Gemma Chan, Harry Styles, Oswalt, and Barry Keoghan, but we will just have to wait and see what happens.

Are you hoping for an eventual Eternals 2?
