Kumail Nanjiani's Action Comedy THE LOVEBIRDS Gets a New Trailer and Netflix Premiere Date
Last month it was announced that Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick) and Issa Rae’s (Insecure) upcoming action romantic comedy The Lovebirds would be released on Netflix instead of in theaters. The movie was originally supposed to be released on April 3rd, but it will now hit Netflix on Friday, May 22nd! We’ve also got a new trailer for the film to share with you.
The story for the movie centers around a couple who experience “a defining moment in their relationship when they are unintentionally embroiled in a bizarre crime. As their journey to clear their names takes them from one extreme – and hilarious - circumstance to the next, they must figure out how they, and their relationship, can survive the night.”
The movie was directed by Michael Showalter (The Big Sick) and written by Aaron Abrams (The Go-Getters) and Brendan Gall (Blindspot, The Go-Getters) from a story by Martin Gero. The movie also stars Paul Sparks (House of Cards), Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect), and Kyle Bornheimer (Marriage Story).
While I was planning on seeing this movie in theaters, it’s kind of the perfect film for the Netflix audience. I definitely plan on checking it out!
