Kumail Nanjiani's Action Comedy THE LOVEBIRDS is Headed To Netflix
Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick) and Issa Rae (Insecure) action romantic comedy The Lovebirds is one of the movie casualties of the theaters closing due to the coronavirus. The movie was supposed to be released in theaters on April 3rd, but now the movie is headed to Netflix.
According to Deadline, Paramount Pictures and Media Rights Capital have made a deal to have the film released on the streaming service. A streaming date for the title will be announced soon.
The Lovebirds actually looks like it’ll be a fun flick. It also seems like Netflix is the perfect place for it. I’ll definitely be checking it out!
The story centers around a couple who experience “a defining moment in their relationship when they are unintentionally embroiled in a bizarre crime. As their journey to clear their names takes them from one extreme – and hilarious - circumstance to the next, they must figure out how they, and their relationship, can survive the night.”
The movie was directed by Michael Showalter (The Big Sick) and written by Aaron Abrams (The Go-Getters) and Brendan Gall (Blindspot, The Go-Getters) from a story by Martin Gero. The movie also stars Paul Sparks (House of Cards), Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect), and Kyle Bornheimer (Marriage Story).
