Kurt Russell Would Be Open to Making a BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA Sequel
John Carpenter’s 1986 fantasy adventure film Big Trouble in Little China is an awesome movie, and Kurt Russell’s Jack Burton might just be one of all-time favorite movie characters. While Burton’s story continued in comic book form, it would be fun to see Russell reprise the role! The question is, would Russel even be open to that if the opportunity presented itself?
During a recent interview with CB, Russell was asked if he’d be open to playing Jack Burton again, and he said: "Ya never say never. If somebody were to write a great script that was better than the first one, it had something new to say, I don't know."
As far as how he would get Carpenter to direct the sequel, the actor joked: "We could slap John Carpenter around a bit and say, 'Come on, John, let's go do this.'"
While it would be exciting to see Russell and Carpenter team up for a Big Trouble in Little China sequel, there’s a good chance it will never happen, and that’s fine. We always have the original film to watch if we have a hankering for some Jack Burton action.
When previously talking about continuing the story, Carpenter said: "I don't know. I think, maybe ... Big Trouble in Little China, it seems to me would be a fun video game and kick ass. There's also, by the way, a Thing card game. I mean, there's a lot of these games. There's actually a They Live game. I don't know that there would ever be a Prince of Darkness game. I don't see that."
There was an attempt to reboot the film with Dwyane Johnson, but thankfully that didn’t happen. Carpenter previously slammed that attempt saying: “They want a movie with Dwayne Johnson. That’s what they want. So they just picked that title. They don’t give a shit about me and my movie. That movie wasn’t a success.”
Would you want to see Russell play Jack Burton again?
