Kyle Allen Cast as He-Man in Netflix's Live-Action MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Movie

The live-action feature film adaptation of the classic ‘80s cartoon He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is moving forward again. Producer Mattel Studios has teamed up with Netflix for the project, and they have cast actor Kyle Allen in the role of He-Man. Noah Centineo was previously attached to the role, but he ended up dropping out of the project. Allen seems like a good choice, and I imagine that he’ll bulk up for the role.

Kyle Allan most recently appeared in Stephen Spielberg’s West Side Story, and some of his other projects include The Path and All My Life. This will be his biggest role to date as he takes up the sword of power.

Allen will play "an orphan named Adam who discovers he is a prince destined to be the savior of a faraway land. He must quickly learn of his power and the importance of saving his true home from an evil force."

Masters of the Universe is being directed and co-written by The Nee Brothers (The Lost City, Band of Robbers). I really hope that they are able to create something spectacularly epic for this film. The Nees co-wrote the script with David Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings).

Robbie Brenner, head of Mattel Films and an executive producer on the project, said in a statement, "Masters of the Universe is an iconic property that shaped the imaginations of an entire generation of kids with the message of becoming the best version of yourself. With our partners at Netflix, we look forward to showing audiences that anything can happen in Eternia. We are continuing to unlock this global franchise in new ways, and we can’t wait to see Kyle battle it out with Skeletor in this epic live-action saga."

Producer Todd Black added, "This movie has been 14 years in the making for us and our partners, and we are so excited to tell an entirely new story … and share it with a global audience."

This film project has been in and out of development for years, and it looks like it’s finally going to get made. Hopefully, it ends up being a great film that fans of the franchise will love.
