Disney's New LADY AND THE TRAMP Film Casts Janelle Monáe
Disney is still announcing casting for the live-action Lady and the Tramp that will debut on their streaming service. Today we learn that Janelle Monáe has jumped on board as Peg, the pound dog who was voiced by Peggy Lee in the original animated film in 1955. Monáe joins the voice cast that already consists of Ashley Jensen as Jackie, Justin Theroux as Tramp, Tessa Thompson as Lady, and Benedict Wong as Bull. Kiersey Clemons and Thomas Mann will play the humans, Darlin and Jim Dear.
The story Follows "a pampered cocker spaniel named Lady whose comfortable life slips away once her owners have a baby. When, after some tense circumstances, Lady finds herself on the loose and out on the street, she is befriended and protected by the tough stray mutt Tramp. A romance begins to blossom between the two dogs, but their many differences, along with more drama at Lady’s household, threaten to keep them apart."
Lady and the Tramp is being directed by Charlie Bean with a script written by Andrew Bujalski. No specific release date has been mentioned, but we’ll probably see it in 2019.
