Lady Gaga Has Reportedly Joined the MCU in a Mystery Role
Lady Gaga may be trading Gotham City for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A new rumor claims the Oscar-winning singer and actress has landed an undisclosed role in the MCU, which immediately raises one very fun question: Who is Lady Gaga playing?
According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello, Lady Gaga has reportedly joined Marvel Studios in a mystery role. Nothing has been officially announced by Marvel, so this remains firmly in rumor territory for now.
The report follows an earlier claim from the same source that Gaga met with Kevin Feige to discuss a potential MCU role.
As you know, Gaga already has some comic book experience after playing a version of Harley Quinn opposite Joaquin Phoenix in Joker: Folie à Deux, directed by Todd Phillips. If this latest report proves accurate, she would become another DC star to make the jump over to Marvel.
The real fun is trying to figure out where she could fit. Marvel has several major movies coming down the pipeline, and Gaga could theoretically turn up as early as Avengers: Secret Wars. Those movies open the door to alternate realities and variants, which means she could potentially play a different version of an established Marvel character.
The other possibility is that Marvel has something planned for its 2028 slate, which includes Black Panther III, X-Men, and Ghost Rider. Any of those projects could introduce characters who haven't appeared in the MCU yet.
Of course, some fans think X-Men gives us the most obvious candidate as she could take on the role of Dazzler. It’s also the movie that Marvel has been heavily casting right now.
The mutant singer has been part of Marvel Comics for decades, and casting Gaga as a superpowered pop star almost feels too perfect. Dazzler can convert sound vibrations into light and has spent plenty of time performing onstage when she isn't getting dragged into mutant mayhem. Gaga joining X-Men in that role would certainly be an easy fit.
Ghost Rider offers another interesting possibility. Gaga could potentially play Roxanne Simpson, Johnny Blaze's longtime love interest from the comics.
Eva Mendes previously played a version of Roxanne in the 2007 Ghost Rider movie. With Mephisto now established within the MCU, Marvel could also explore Roxanne's comic book ties to Mephisto's son, Blackheart, if the character is brought back for a new interpretation.
There is also a simpler possibility that Marvel could create someone specifically for her. The MCU has a history of introducing original characters who weren't pulled directly from Marvel Comics.
For now, Marvel hasn't confirmed Gaga's involvement or revealed what character she might be playing. Until that happens, this one belongs in the rumor pile.
