Lady Gaga Is Set to Star in Ridley Scott's Maurizio Gucci Murder Movie
Lady Gaga has landed the lead role in a new movie about the Gucci family fashion dynasty and the murder of the grandson of founder Guccio Gucci.
Ridley Scott is directing the film, and Gaga will play Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci. “Reggiani was tried and convicted of orchestrating her ex-husband’s assassination on the steps of his office in 1995. She served 18 years before being released from prison in 2016.”
This will be the first film project for Gaga since starring in Bradley Cooper’s A Star is Born, which earned her a best actress nomination and win for best original song for “Shallow.”
The Gucci murder movie will be based on the book by Sara Gay Forden, The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed. The script is being written by Roberto Bentivegna.
I’ll be honest, this is a story I knew nothing about until today, but it seems like a fantastic project for Gaga to be a part of. Who would have thought that one day we would see Ridley Scott and Lady Gaga working on a film together!?
Here’s the description of the book:
Did Patrizia Reggiani murder her ex-husband, Maurizio Gucci, in 1995 because his spending was wildly out of control? Did she do it because her glamorous ex was preparing to marry his mistress, Paola Franchi? Or is there a possibility she didn't do it at all?
In this gripping account of the ascent, eventual collapse, and resurrection of the Gucci dynasty, Sara Gay Forden takes us behind the scenes of the trial and exposes the passions, the power, and the vulnerabilities of the greatest fashion family of our times.
