Lamorne Morris to Play Robbie Robertson in Live-Action Series SPIDER-NOIR Opposite Nicolas Cage
Lamorne Morris (New Girl, Fargo) has joined the cast of the live-action series Spider-Noir, in which he will play the character Robbie Robertson, opposite Nicolas Cage and possibly Brendan Gleeson. The show has been reported under the names Noir, Spider-Noir, and Spider-Man Noir, so we don’t know which it will land on, but we will let you know when it’s sure.
The show is headed to MGM+ and Prime Video, and it’s based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir. Spider-Noir, from executive producers/co-showrunners Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, tells the story of an aging and down on his luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.
Morris’ Robbie Robertson is driven, hard-working, and won’t take no for an answer. A dedicated journalist trying to make it with the odds stacked against him as a black professional in 1930s New York, he takes on riskier stories that no one else would touch in order to catch attention and a paycheck. He is willing to do whatever is necessary for his career.
Harry Bradbeer is set to direct and executive produce the first two episodes of the series, which Uziel and Lightfoot developed with the team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, who also serve as executive producers. Spider-Noir will debut domestically on MGM+’s linear channel, then globally on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories.
