Lana Condor “Desperately” Wants Another Shot at Jubilee After X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Gave Her Just 32 Seconds
Lana Condor made her debut as Jubilee in X-Men: Apocalypse, but calling it a substantial role would be generous. Her scenes amount to roughly 32 seconds of screen time, despite more footage being filmed with the character.
Now, with Marvel Studios preparing a new generation of mutants for the MCU, Condor wants another crack at Jubilee, as long as the character actually gets something meaningful to do this time.
Condor recently talked about her frustratingly short appearance in X-Men: Apocalypse and revealed that Jubilee originally had more material.
"We filmed more Jubilee than was in the film… I obviously wanted so much more for Jubilee and, at the time, I thought we were going to get some of that," Condor told Get Rec'd.
That disappointment hasn't killed her enthusiasm for the character. Condor still wants to play Jubilee, but she's looking for something far more substantial than a glorified cameo.
"I desperately want to play Jubilee again, but I want to be utilized, and I want it to mean something. I know it meant something in Apocalypse, but I think that she's just such a fabulous and phenomenal character; she's so vibrant, and she's so full of vitality and life. You can't reduce that."
She's right about Jubilee. She’s a great character and has way too much personality and comic book history not to bring into the MCU.
Condor has also made sure Marvel knows she's interested. In a separate interview with The Direct, she revealed that she's already spoken with filmmakers about potentially getting another shot.
"I've talked to the filmmakers and been like, 'Hey, listen, I'm 10 years older now. I know more. Bring me back.' So we'll see."
Marvel Studios is moving ahead with its new X-Men movie, directed by Jake Schreier, which will introduce a fresh lineup of mutants to the MCU.
The cast announced at D23 includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Inde Navarette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, and Adam Driver as Mister Sinister.
If Jubillee does eventually jump into the MCU’s X-Men, chances are they won’t recast Condor. They are going to go with a whole fresh new cast.
Marvel's X-Men hits theaters on May 5, 2028. Would you like to see Lana Condor return as Jubilee, or should Marvel cast someone new for its MCU reboot?
