LANTERNS Episode 5 Trailer Reveals Zoe’s Fate and Teases a Major Green Lantern Conflict
The Lanterns Episode 5 trailer has arrived online, and after the explosive ending of Episode 4, it offers a pretty big clue about what happened to Zoe while pointing to even bigger problems coming for John Stewart and Hal Jordan.
The new preview confirms that Zoe, played by Poorna Jagannathan, survived the truck explosion caused by the satellite strike. Her apparent death was one of Episode 4’s biggest shocks, but Hal had already started putting the pieces together before it ended.
During a tense conversation in the car, Hal confronted John over his strangely restrained reaction to Zoe’s supposed death. Hal knew John cared about her, so the lack of grief immediately raised questions. His conclusion was that John already knew Zoe was alive.
That creates a much stranger mystery. If Zoe was inside that truck when it was destroyed, how did she get out alive? Hal suspects she may actually be a Manhunter in disguise.
John pushed back on the accusation, insisting he didn’t know Zoe had survived and only had a feeling that she was still alive. Judging by the Episode 5 trailer, that disagreement isn’t going away anytime soon.
Things also appear to be getting seriously dangerous in Rushville. The footage includes an emergency broadcast warning residents that the threat they’re facing isn’t a drill, along with gunfire and escalating chaos as the investigation takes another nasty turn.
The relationship between the two Green Lanterns looks increasingly strained as well. Hal apologizes to John and says he’s sure John understands his position. John clearly isn’t ready to let it go, responding that he’s angry and intends to do something about it.
He later asks Hal if the confrontation was worth it, suggesting their partnership could be heading into rough territory.
Between Zoe’s survival, the growing Manhunter mystery, possible Red Lantern imagery, and John and Hal turning against each other, Episode 5 looks like it could push the story into some wild directions..
