Latest Adaptation of THE SECRET GARDEN Starring Colin Firth Headed Straight to VOD
We are seeing more films than ever go straight to VOD, and beside the Disney titles and the big blockbusters that are being pushed back to future release dates, the remaining have come straight to our TVs so that we have some entertainment during the times of quarantine. The latest iteration of the classic tale The Secret Garden has received this fate as well.
This adaptation of the classic Frances Hodgson Burnett novel is directed by Marc Munden, from the producers of Harry Potter, and it looks like a beautiful new version of the story. It stars Dixie Egerickx (The Little Stranger) as Mary Lennox, with Colin Firth as her uncle, Archibald Craven. Mrs. Medlock is portrayed by Julie Walters (the Harry Potter films), and Edan Hayhurst (Genius) plays Mary’s cousin Colin.
Here’s the synopsis:
The Secret Garden tells the story of Mary Lennox (Dixie Egerickx), a prickly and unloved 10-year-old girl, born in India to wealthy British parents. When they suddenly die, she is sent back to England to live with her uncle, Archibald Craven (Colin Firth) on his remote country estate deep in the Yorkshire moors. There, she begins to uncover many family secrets, particularly after meeting her sickly cousin (Edan Hayhurst), who has been shut away in a wing of the house. Together, these two damaged, slightly misfit children heal each other through their discovery of a wondrous secret garden, lost in the grounds of Misselthwaite Manor. A magical place of adventure that will change their lives forever.
As you’ll see in the announcement below, The Secret Garden is set to hit On Demand and VOD on August 7th. Will you be checking it out?
