Lauren Cohan Talks Returning to the Final Season of THE WALKING DEAD and Teases a Possible Maggie Spin-Off
Lauren Cohan is back in the role of Maggie on the AMC series The Walking Dead. We have seen the teasers for her reappearance for a while now, as the final episode in Season 10 should have aired back in April, but was bumped back because of the pandemic. The way the season is playing out now is just a little different since the creators made adjustments, with the original finale airing next month, and a six-episode extension of the season coming out way in early 2021. Then we will get an 11th and final extended season that will last 24 episodes spanning through 2021-2022.
So now it is just a couple of weeks until we see Maggie again, and Cohan appeared on Live with Kelly and Ryan to talk about her return, and what may come of her character after the flagship series comes to an end. She said:
"We still have two past year's worth of stuff to shoot, so we're still going to be on television for a significant period. We're so lucky we've been going so long, and it's so exciting to say, 'Okay, let's all key in for this final season and watch it together.'“
She went on to add:
“And then people are so hungry for our whole universe still, but it's sort of exciting because there will be spinoff possibilities. I don't know if I'm supposed to say that yet."
It was already announced that we will be getting a Daryl/Carol spinoff, and an anthology series after the main series ends, so maybe Maggie is talking about those? She may be appearing in the Daryl/Carol series, or maybe Maggie will be a part of something else altogether. I guess we will wait and see. However it pans out, I am just excited to get back to the story, and see what the next season and a half have in store for us. How about you?
