Lauren Cohan Will Be Back in the Second Half of THE WALKING DEAD Season 10

After the intense mid-season finale of AMC’s The Walking Dead, fans were given a few bits of info for the series, as well as its upcoming spin-off. We finally got a title for the new series, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, as well as the new trailer, and we also got a little tease about some things that may be happening in the upcoming second half of Season 10!

In a recent interview with Deadline, TWD showrunner and Talking Dead regular, Angela Kang, sat down and opened up about all things The Walking Dead, and gave some insight into two of the longtime leading ladies of the series, Michonne, played by Danai Gurira, and Maggie, played by Lauren Cohan.

It’s been widely known that we would lose Michonne sometime this season, and some fans speculated that may have happened in the mid-season finale, to generate some drama. But that didn’t happen. Here’s what Kang had to say about that:

Well, I’ll say that there’s a piece of her story left to tell this season, but we’ve been planning for her to make an exit. We thought it would be interesting to tell a story with her, at this point in the season, about deciding to help somebody who’s a little complicated.

Yay! I’m glad to hear it. I’m sad to see Michonne go; she has kids to take care of, and she is a super bad-ass. I think they’ve taken away too many core characters, and I’m bummed about her departure, so at least it’s prolonged a bit. As for Cohan’s character, Maggie, Kang revealed:

She will come back as a series regular in Season 11, but you know, we may see her before that.

When pressed about whether she could tell us more about that, Kang of course said:

No, no, I can’t.

No surprise there! But it’s fun she gave us the little tease that we could expect Maggie’s return sooner than later. It will help to cushion the loss of Michonne, and I’m excited to hear what Maggie’s character has been up to, as she left pretty mysteriously.
