Lauren Graham on Board to Play Lead in Disney+ Series Adaptation of THE MIGHTY DUCKS
Actress Lauren Graham, best known for her roles in Gilmore Girls and Parenthood, has been hired to star in the Disney+ adapted series, The Mighty Ducks. The show has been picked up for a ten-episode first season at the streamer, and has also cast Brady Noon, the young actor from Boardwalk Empire and Good Boys, as the young lead in the series. The original film’s writer, Steve Brill, is back to helm the series, alongside Till Death creators Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa.
Here’s a description of the series, courtesy of Deadline:
The reboot is set in present day Minnesota, where the Mighty Ducks have evolved from scrappy underdogs to an ultra-competitive, powerhouse youth hockey team. After 12-year-old Evan (Noon) is unceremoniously cut from the Ducks, he and his mom Alex (Graham) set out to build their own ragtag team of misfits to challenge the cutthroat, win-at-all-costs culture of competitive youth sports.
Emilio Estevez has been rumored to be in talks with the studio about reprising his role as Gordon Bombay from the films, but nothing is set in stone as of now. Everyone in my house loves the movies, and I’m excited to get this series that we can enjoy together. Are you pumped for this series?
