The Film Adaptation of the Sci-Fi Novel THE TELLING Moves Forward with a Writer and Director

The world lost a great writer earlier this year when Ursula K. Le Guin passed. Before she passed, she had reportedly started work on bringing her book The Telling to the big screen with Bayview Films. Bayview Films has recently announced that Leena Pendharker has taken over the adaptation and is now in charge of writing and directing it. Also, The Telling is currently set to star Rekha Sharma of Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek: Discovery fame. I loved Le Guin’s book, A Wizard of Earthsea (which we have reviewed here) and while I haven’t read The Telling, I’m really excited for this. Here’s a synopsis if you haven’t read it yet, either:

Sutty, a woman of mixed India/British ancestry, travels from Earth to the planet Aka to provide observations as an outside observer. On Aka, all traditional customs and beliefs have been outlawed by the state. There Sutty experiences and tells of the conflicts there between the Corporation, a repressive State capitalist government, and the native people who resist.
