Legendary Gets the Film Rights to MY BOYFRIEND IS A BEAR Graphic Novel

If you’ve ever read the graphic novel, My Boyfriend is a Bear, you should be excited to hear that Legendary has acquired the film rights to it. Then again, maybe you shouldn’t. I’ve never read it, so I don’t know if it was any good or not. That being said, if you haven’t read it either, here’s a brief synopsis:

Nora has bad luck with men. When she meets an (actual) bear on a hike in the Los Angeles hills, he turns out to be the best romantic partner she’s ever had! He’s considerate, he’s sweet, he takes care of her. But he’s a bear, and winning over her friends and family is difficult. Not to mention he has to hibernate all winter. Can true love conquer all?

That sounds weird. It makes me think of the Cartoon Network show We Bare Bears, but if it focused on Panda getting into a relationship. It can’t be that bad though considering it averages a 3.88 out of 5 across over 1,000 ratings from readers on Goodreads, right? I just know the premise sounds ridiculous which could be really good if done right. If not done right, this will probably be a giant train wreck. What are your thoughts on My Boyfriend is a Bear, and can you wait for Legendary to make the movie? Should it be live-action or animated?
