LEGO MASTERS Is Incredibly Fun and a Competition Show Many Will Love

I know I’m a little late to the party, but I finally got to watch the first episode of LEGO Masters. This is the competition show that many geeks have been waiting for as 10 teams of two LEGO builders compete for $100,000. This first episode featured a theme of theme parks. Each team had 15 hours to build a theme park attraction, and the featured attraction had to feature automated movement. It was also challenging because each one had a section of a monorail already built into it that the builders had to work with. This was an inspiring episode that made me wish I had all my old LEGO.

Will Arnett is the host of the show and he does a fantastic job as one would imagine. He’s joined by senior design manager at LEGO Amy Corbett, and Jamie Berard, who works in the LEGO Creator Expert and LEGO Architecture lines for LEGO. These are some big names in the world of LEGO, and they judge the creations. If you enjoy building with LEGO, this show is definitely something to check out. I love the animations that they bring to the judging moments. It’s really cool!

If you want to see my thoughts on the episode keep reading, but be warned that there are spoilers.

This week we got to meet the competitors and start to figure out who we want to see continue. I’m a little annoyed that we didn’t really see too much of some of the teams, like Flynn and Richard, but hopefully we get to meet them soon. Out of the people we have met, I think my favorites are Krystle and Amie and Jermaine and Mel. I was very impressed by Christian and Aaron who ended up winning the episode and the Golden Brick. Honestly, I don’t care for Sam and Jessica and am flabbergasted that they didn’t get eliminated. They did not work very well together, and their lack of cohesion really showed, I felt. This was the first time they built anything together, and it showed. You don’t really want to have national television be the first time you work with someone.

I was shocked that they decided to not eliminate anyone, but I hope that means ALL of the teams will step up their game for episode two. Maybe Sam and Jessica will grow on me? What are you looking forward to in the series? Who are your favorite teams?
