Leon Kennedy Charges Back into Action in New RESIDENT EVIL REQUIEM Trailer

After months of speculation, the new trailer for Resident Evil Requiem has finally confirmed what fans have been hoping for. Leon Kennedy is back.

The Resident Evil series has been terrifying players for nearly three decades, giving us some interesting characters in the franchise.

Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, and Leon himself helped define the franchise before Capcom shifted gears with Resident Evil 7, steering the series toward a more intimate first person horror experience with a fresh protagonist. Redfield eventually resurfaced, but Leon remained missing from mainline titles for more than a decade.

In Requiem, Leon returns older and a bit rougher around the edges, stepping in as the game’s second protagonist. Capcom’s approach with this entry is to split the tone between its two leads.

Newcomer Grace Ashcroft is set to carry the atmospheric dread players expect from the recent games, while Leon unleashes the explosive and fearless action that made him a fan favorite. The trailer finally gives us a taste of him in motion and it instantly feels like the series is welcoming home a familiar force.

Leon’s legacy looms large because of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4, two entries where he took center stage and delivered some of the franchise’s most unforgettable moments. His stylish confidence and dry charm helped shape those games into all time favorites and it looks like Requiem is leaning into everything that made him such a fan-favorite character.

The big question now is how much time Leon will actually spend in the spotlight. Grace appears to be the primary focus but it seems likely he will still have meaningful involvement. Historically, Resident Evil campaigns tend to be compact and Requiem is expected to land somewhere around ten to twelve hours.

Whether Leon commands half the story or only key segments remains to be seen. Capcom has kept most of the game hidden, releasing limited footage throughout the year and showcasing only a handful of sections to avoid revealing too much.

Resident Evil Requiem arrives February 27, 2026.
