Let The Unsettling Festivities Begin in First Trailer For The Horror Film MIDSOMMAR From The Director of HEREDITARY

The first trailer has been released for Hereditary director Ari Aster‘s new horror film Midsommar and while the movie looks bright and colorful with the sun shining, it’s going to tell a dark and nightmarish story. The trailer is actually pretty damn unsettling. After all, the movie centers around a pagan cult.

The story follows a couple visiting a friend in Sweden during the traditional mid-summer festivities. The trip starts out pleasant but then quickly turns into a terrifying, violent, and bizarre ordeal thanks to a pagan cult. If you’ve ever had an encounter with an evil pagan cult, then this is a movie I’m sure you’ll be able to relate to.

The director explained that the horror movie is a “Scandinavian folk horror” story and also said that the film is “an apocalyptic breakup movie,” and explained that the “recent death of the main character’s parents casts a sense of dread over the proceedings.”

Hereditary is a great horror movie and because of that, I’m looking forward to seeing what devilish darkness that Aster has planned for Midsommar. I definitely liked what I saw in the trailer!

Midsommar also has a great cast that includes Jack ReynorFlorence PughWill PoulterVilhem BlomgrenWilliam Jackson HarperEllora Torchia and Archie Madekwe.

The movie opens in theaters on August 9, 2019.
