Let's Talk About ALIENATED #5

Alienated #5 from Simon Spurrier, Chris Wildgoose, and Andre May is out now and it’s definitely a doozy. If you haven’t read the latest issue yet, you can grab a copy from your favorite local store or through digital platforms like comiXology. Now, onto the spoilers.

Oh Samuel. It’s finally his turn to have time with Chip and it is as petty as one would expect from Samuel. He didn’t win that contest like he had hoped so instead he uses Chip to sneak into the famous person’s trailer, try to pitch his video, and then when he’s once again rejected decides to murder the guy with Chip’s powers. He then impersonates the guy and tries sharing his angst-fueled message with the world but doesn’t realize his mic is in the helmet that he takes off at the beginning of his rant. This then causes him to spiral further and it looks like he may have seriously hurt his mother.

Meanwhile, Samir and Samantha are in the hospital talking about things and Samir says that they need to set Chip free and he actually called Samuel’s mom in to give her a confession. Samantha doesn’t want to set Chip free but does agree that it’s probably best. She’s working on doing that when Samuel takes Chip back for another rage-induced rampage.

If an alien came to Earth and asked me to describe teenagers, I would actually consider showing them Alienated to highlight what a few sides of teenagers can be like. They have a lot of emotions and don’t always know how to control or express them. This can feed the negativity in their lives and they end up acting on those feelings in an unhealthy way. That being said, there is a lot of positivity out there for teenagers too like the character Vern Heath. Sadly, we haven’t seen too much of him, but maybe he can help. We also got to see Samir and Samantha realize what they’re doing is wrong. I imagine we’ll see that with Samuel as well, but man, he’s a lot more annoying.
