Let's Talk About DUNCANVILLE Episode 7 - "Jack's Pipe Dream"

Duncanville is back! It’s been quite a while since we got a new episode and this one was pretty great. You can find new episodes of Duncanville on FOX every Sunday evening or on Hulu the next day. This is your warning that there are spoilers ahead. Also, a content warning that there’s a fair amount of talk about suicide in the episode and this article.

This episode was pretty hilarious to me. We see a sexy new plumber who actually doesn’t know anything about plumbing lead to Jack losing all of his clients. In the throes of despair, Jack then decides to finish creating a rock opera called Rommy that is in no way similar to the hit rock opera by The Who, Tommy. I’m just kidding, it’s minimally changed and therefore fantastic.

It’s really funny how the rest of the family is really against this rock opera and are only doing it to humor Jack in the hopes of keeping him from committing suicide. Then, Jack wants to display the show in public and they want to tell Jack this needs to stop, but then eventually, they all find a reason to go through with the show.

One of the highlights for me was when the family is having a secret meeting in a closet and Amy tells everyone to pretend they’re coats when Jack opens the door. Another highlight is the music. It is actually pretty awesome in my opinion. In the end, Jack saves the town because the new sexy plumber doesn’t know how to do plumbing and Amy dumped all the fliers for Rommy into the sewers causing them to back up and flood the town. That’s why you treat the sewers well kids.

What would your rock opera be?
