Let's Talk About FOLKLORDS #2

The second issue of Matt Kindt’s Folklords is out now and suddenly the preview for the third issue makes a lot more sense. If you haven’t read the issue yet, you can pick it up at your favorite local or online comic store including comiXology.

This issue features Ansel and Archer talking about what their next step is. They start wandering around, exploring, hoping to find the Folklords. Along the way, they meet a very weird person who Archer ends up shooting with a slingshot and who forces a kiss out of Ansel. It’s really weird. After a bit, they are able to escape and run away. While running they meet a girl named Greta who tells them about a witch who drugs people with special candy that then plants a seed in them and grows into the trees around them. We end the issue with Ansel having a crazy dream involving a smartphone and when he wakes up Archer and Greta are gone. He stumbles upon one of those drugged candies and next thing you know, he’s tied up to a torture table.

This episode took a much darker turn than I expected, and I am interested to see how everything works out. Is Ansel going to run into all the different fairy tales? Are the Folklords the authors? I think we’ll learn a lot more after this storyline about Greta.
