Let's Talk About GO GO POWER RANGERS #26
Go Go Power Rangers #26 just came out today and it did not go where I expected. If you have not read the issue yet, here’s your warning that spoilers are coming. You can purchase the issue at your favorite place that sells comics, including comiXology.
So we start off with a flashback to when Tommy was under Rita’s control as the Green Ranger and it’s interesting to learn that she wasn’t happy with the fact that he was a mindless slave. This was a very unexpected, yet understandable revelation. After the flashback, we find Tommy in the present day on a mysterious planet where he meets a mysterious white tiger who leads him to a temple. Inside the temple, Tommy finds the White Light and Saba is there protecting it. Funny enough, Saba does not want to give Tommy the power of the White Light because of Drakkon.
Tommy tries to convince him that he’s different but to no avail. Then, Lord Zedd shows up and complicates things even more. He was somehow able to track Tommy to the Tower of Light and this helps lead Saba to believe that they’re working together in some way. Well, Saba and Tommy both try fighting Zedd, but he is able to best them and grabs Saba. It is at this point that he reveals part of his plan. Zedd wants Tommy to get the powers of the White Light seemingly to then be able to use it for evil and essentially become a second Drakkon. However, can we appreciate that picture on the last page? It is beautiful and I love the “corrupted” Saba.
The real question is, what is Zedd’s plan? Am I correct in assuming he wants Tommy to use it for evil, or is there something more sinister that he’s plotting?
Of course, while Tommy is off doing his magical quest for the White Light, we see a little bit of the other Rangers. Trini and Zack had just found Jason and the Blue Emissary snooping around the Command Center and they want answers. Jason is unable to provide any answers for fear of undoing all the work that the Emissaries did after Drakkon was defeated and this really puts a strain on his relationship with the other two. Heck, they all show up to fight the Sentinel and Trini and Zack flat out talk about how they don’t really trust Jason right now. I feel like that was a pretty good time for Jason to explain things to those two and get them on board for being Omega Rangers, but I guess there’s more to it than that. I’m extremely curious to see how Jason regains their trust and explains everything to get them to join him as Omega Rangers.
