Let's Talk About GO GO POWER RANGERS #27

The latest issue of Go Go Power Rangers has been released. This one was pretty cool, but if you haven’t read it yet, this is your last chance to exit before we reach spoilers. You can get your own copy of Go Go Power Rangers #27 wherever you like to get your comics including comiXology.

So, this issue starts with what we saw in the preview. It turns out that Zedd was not at the Tower of Light, but rather it was a test created to test Tommy and make sure he was worthy of the power. Then, we cut over to the Rangers getting beat up by Nimrod, AC, and DC. Well, the Rangers get out of there and Jason’s all worried about his teammates possibly dying in this fight because they just had their butts handed to them. Kimberly explains to Jason that they’re a team and they all understand the risks, so Jason better not try anything stupid like fighting the monsters alone.

Trini and Zack are trying to figure out what to do with Jason since they don’t know what the heck is going on. The Blue Emissary shows up and explains that Jason’s on a mission to save the world and these two decide they want in. They’re not going to let Jason do this alone.

The comic continues with the Rangers defeating the monsters and then at Ernie’s Juice Bar there are some key conversations. Kimberly and Matt have an awkward moment. He goes to check on her and then finds out that Tommy’s back and that’s when things get awkward and he leaves. Meanwhile, Tommy is being overly apologetic to Jason for becoming the leader when he became the White Ranger. Jason is cool with it and this whole thing is interesting to me. Jason is ok with it as he’s going to be leaving the team soon to start the Omega Rangers (he may not fully know that’s what’s happening, but it is), but there’s an episode in the TV series where Tommy and Jason fight over this very idea of who would be a better leader. Granted, the two were under a spell, but it’s still interesting to think about that episode in conjunction with this power shift.

At the end of the episode, Trini and Zack tell Jason they know what’s going on as the Blue Emissary has restored their memories and after Jason protests, they explain that they are always there for them. Oh, another thing worth mentioning is that Kim and Tommy kiss in the issue as well.
