Let's Talk About Marvel's HAWKEYE Season Finale and Kingpin's Big Return

Marvel’s Hawkeye sure was a great show! It’s easily one of my favorite shows that Marvel has made. It was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed the characters and how their story arcs played out over the course of the show. Then it all came to a head in the series finally, which I enjoyed immensely.

Like the rest of the fans, I was insanely excited when Vincent D'Onofrio, show up as Kingpin, and that paid off in some fun ways in the series finale. The big reveal of Fisk came from Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), who was hired to kill Clint by Kate's mom, Eleanor Bishop (Vera Farmiga). Yelena took the contract under the belief that Clint was responsible for the death of her sister Natasha Romanoff.

There was a wonderful moment in the finale where after Clint (Jeremy Renner) and Yelena fight they talk about Natasha. During the fight, she wouldn’t accept that Natasha sacrificed herself to save the world. She just wanted Clint to pay for what she was told he did. She was ultimately convinced when Clint uses her and Natasha's secret whistle.

Clint went on to reveal that Natasha told him about her past with Yelena. They both shared their love for Natasha, and she walked away from Clint. Now we are left to wonder when and where she will show up next.

As for Kingpin, we learn that the Bishop family owed Fisk a ton of money and when Kate's dad was killed, her mom Eleanor joined Fisk to pay off the debt. Now the the debut is paid, though, and Kate is getting to close t the action, Eleanor wants out. But, Fisk doesn’t want her to leave.

Things are falling apart for Fisk as he also learns that Maya, a.k.a. Echo, has turned on him as well, so he hires Kazi to kill her, Eleanor, and Clint. Fisk says, "The people need to be reminded that this city belongs to me.”

The last time we saw Kingpin was in Daredevil Season 3 when he was being dragged off to prison in that show's finale. That took place before the snap, so a lot has changed since then, including his wardrobe, which consisted of a Hawaiian style shirt with his signature white suit.

Fisk then shows up during the climax finale and confront Eleanor outside Rockefeller Center. Things aren’t looking good and then Kate (Hailee Steinfeld) shows up and stops him by shooting him with an arrow in the chest, which doesn’t seem to phase him. From there, he and Kate get in an epic fight. He’s shot, beat up, and blown up, then Eleanor flippin' rams him into the toy store and hits Fisk with the car! Nothing seems to phase him!

This might leave fans wondering if Fisk has superpowers because how does he survive that madness! Well, Kingpin has never had superpowers. In the comics, has a unique physique as he physically has an overweight appearance, “Kingpin’s body mass is mostly composed of pure muscle rather than fatty tissue. Kingpin is also extremely fast, agile, and incredibly strong for a man his size and weight. Capable of easily lifting a full –sized oak desk and using it as a weapon, and able to stand toe-to-toe with super-powered individuals, Fisk’s physique makes him an extremely dangerous opponent for others. Aside from his physical capabilities, Fisk’s padded body also protects him from several lethal attacks, such as stab wounds and occasionally gunshots to non-vital areas.”

So, this series was just giving us the comic book version of Kingpin and I loved it!

After Fisk goes through his beatdown he runs off only to be confronted by Maya, where she asks him about her father's death. Then she seemingly shoots him in the face, but the camera pans up so we don’t see anything. Personally, I don’t think Kingpin is dead. There’s no way they are going to bring this fan favorite character back for one episode and then kill him off. That would be the stupidest thing Marvel could do.

So, no. I’m confident that Kingpin will be back. In the comics, Maya did the same thing, but it didn’t kill him, it left Kingpin badly blind. He eventually got better, though. I assume that’s what will happen here.

Clint makes it back home from Christmas and he brings Kate along with him after she turned her mom in for murder. It’s here that the mysterious Rolex watch comes back into play. It turns out it was his wifes watch and that she used to work for SHIELD, which I wasn’t expecting.

The episode ends with Kate and Clint burning the Ronin suit on a barbeque grill ending its dark legacy. She then suggests a bunch of superhero names that she could adopt including Lady Hawk, Hawk Eve, Hawk Shot, Lady Arrow, until Clint suggests simply Hawkeye.
