Let's Talk About MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS #41
In Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #41 we finally learn a bit more about the Omega Rangers including a new member. We also learned quite a bit about what is going on in general since the end of Shattered Grid. If you have not read the issue, I recommend you read it before continuing on as there will be spoilers.
So, we start off the issue with Jason, Trini, and Zack on the video call with Billy and Kimberly and it becomes a very bitter moment as the trio can’t talk about anything they’re doing for some reason (still isn’t fully explained) and the duo just miss their friends. Then, we find out that the trio are not the only Omega Rangers. They have a fourth member who is an alien named Kiya. She seems pretty cool, and I really like her. She seems to be a good person and later on, it really stuck with me when she asked the Blue Emissary to potentially let the villain join them. I liked it.
Eventually, trouble starts, and we see the four Rangers morph and that’s cool because each one is associated with a different element which is when I got thrown for a loop because Zack is Omega Air Power. I’ve never really seen air associated with black before. We then meet the villain Garrison Vox and while they are fighting, we learn that Garrison is connected to the Morphin Grid. They try talking Garrison into going with them peacefully, but he’s the evil type so he has to fight them and get punched into the ground hard by Kiya. He is then put into a device that looks a lot like the capsule/dumpster that Rita was trapped in before being set free by astronauts.
The issue ends and we maybe start to see what this whole deal with the Omega Rangers is. To me, it looks like the Omega Rangers are going around to find people who are now connected to the Morphin Grid to either subdue them and imprison them a la Garrison, or to get them to join them a la Kiya. The idea is that this will prevent another Lord Drakkon. The catch is that I feel like there’s another part to the Emissaries that we’re not seeing.
