Let's Talk About MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS/TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #2

OK, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #2 released today and it is so cool. If you haven’t had the chance to read the latest issue, this is your warning that spoilers will abound. You can purchase your copy wherever you like to get your comics including comiXology.

We pick up where we left off in the first issue. The Rangers and Turtles are fighting after Tommy vanished. They eventually make nice and start trying to figure out their move. Meanwhile, Tommy impresses Shredder, and we find out that he’s been doing this to help someone named Tyler who is a Foot soldier. Well, Tyler betrays Tommy and knocks him out. When Tommy comes to, he morphs and tries escaping, but Shredder just blasts him with some kind of crazy weapon.

I’m going to rewind a bit before I get to the best part. While the Rangers and Turtles are planning things and trying to figure out how to help Tommy, there are some panels of Donatello trying to impress Billy. Billy then says that if they’re in Angel Grove, Donnie may be able to help upgrade the Megazord and you can see his inner fan freaking out.

Back to the more intense stuff with Tommy. After he’s knocked out, we actually cut over to Rita Repulsa who feels ownership of the Dragon Power Coin transfer to someone else. She then takes Baboo, Finster, Goldar, and Squat with her and they show up at the Technodrome and imnmediately run into Bebop and Rocksteady. Then, Shredder shows up and Rita starts threatening him which is honestly pretty awesome. I’ve been very excited to see what kind of relationship these two develop. Shredder then MORPHS! That’s right, he pulls out Tommy’s morpher and morphs into a really cool version of the Green Ranger that’s a perfect blend of the Ranger and Shredder. I want this character in freaking Battle for the Grid right now! He looks like such a boss!

I am really curious to see where things go from here, but I think we’ll see them forge an alliance that will be temporary and it’s going to cause A LOT of problems. This is so incredibly good!
