Let's Talk About MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS/TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #3

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is exactly what fans have been hoping for ever since the terrible crossover during Power Rangers In Space. MMPR/TMNT #3 just dropped today, and it not only tells us more about Tommy’s past, it also features a crazy development leading to the best cliffhanger ever. If you haven’t read the issue yet, there are spoilers ahead, and you can get the comic at your favorite shop including comiXology.

So, everything starts as we see in the preview for the issue. Rita and Shredder start fighting and then end up teaming up temporarily to put an and to the Power Rangers and the Turtles. I’ve been waiting for this moment since the first issue.

We also see Tommy and his friend Tyler talking, and we learn a bit about Tommy. Apparently he was an orphan in New York before he was adopted and moved to California. I guess this finally confirms that Angel Grove is indeed located in California. In fact, his move and adoption are what pushed Tyler to join the Foot, as he felt abandoned by Tommy. It was really cool to learn more about Tommy from his time before he got to Angel Grove.

The Rangers are able to teleport near the Technodrome where they run into Green Ranger Shredder (such an amazing design). Shredder is able to hit them with his beam that causes them to unmorph, and things are not looking great. Then, good ol’ Casey Jones shows up and helps them escape. He’s able to get a couple of hits in with his trusty cricket bat, but that doesn’t last. They run to fight another day and get teleported back to the Command Center. The only problem is that they can’t morph. None of them can. This gives a great idea, and they’re going to let the Turtles (and I think April) morph into Rangers to bring down Shredder and Rita.

Oh, and did I mention that after they teleported away Rita unleashed her new monster to wreak havoc on New York City? Yeah, that’s what made things even more urgent and push for the awesome cliffhanger. I cannot wait to see where things go and how the Turtles look as Rangers. Will they still have their shells? Will they have the normal helmets or will they be altered? Ugh, so many questions. Also, I’m guessing that Tommy is going to be able to help Tyler see the error of his ways and use that to get out.
