Let's Talk About MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS/TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #5

Well, it’s finally here. The conclusion to the most amazing comic book crossover is finally here. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #5 released this week and I love it, but am sad that the crossover is now over. MMPR/TMNT is written by Ryan Parrott with art by Simone di Meo and colors by Walter Baiamonte. You can get a physical copy from local comic book shops or digital copies from outlets like comiXology.

This issue we see the Turtle Rangers in the Megazord fighting Bebop and Rocksteady as well as the Dragonzord under Shredder’s control. Things aren’t looking too great, but then the Ninja Rangers show up in Metalhead to give them an assist. Together, they make short work of Bebop and Rocksteady, but to bring down the Dragonzord, they merge together to create the Turtle Megazord.

This is pretty cool. However, Shredder is able to get away with Rita’s help. The Rangers take a little time and are able to figure out how to reverse whatever Shredder did to them so that they can get their powers back and then the real final showdown occurs. The Rangers and Turtles go to the moon and fight Rita, her minions, and Shredder. Now, how the Turtles, Tommy, and Casey Jones are breathing during this fight, I have no idea. It’s still a lot of fun to watch though.

Eventually, Tommy gets his powers back and Rita actually then forces Shredder to take her to Dimension X and they get away. We’re then given a great little epilogue of the Rangers and Turtles enjoying each other’s company.

I really enjoyed this crossover. There were some incredible things to come from it like the Turtles morphing and the awesome ninja outfits for the Rangers. Plus, it’s just fun to see the two groups come together in a much better written way than the episode in Power Rangers In Space.
