Let's Talk About ONCE & FUTURE #10
The latest chapter of Once & Future is out, and I love it. We get to see Bridgette doing more of her stuff and honestly things are feeling a lot more stressful. If you haven’t read the issue yet, you can get Kieron Gillen’s and Dan Mora’s latest piece from your local comic shop or through digital outlets like comiXology.
The monster is after Bridgette and things do not look good. She’s at the old folks home with other old people and some caretakers who don’t know what’s going on as the monster starts destroying the place and killing people. Well, it turns out the monster is Grendel and Bridgette confirms everyone’s fear: Beowulf is the one to kill Grendel. Considering the fact that Beowulf is supposedly dead, this poses some problems. Of course, I’m not fully convinced that Beowulf bit the dust, so maybe there’s hope yet.
Duncan is trying desperately to get a hold of Bridgette and make sure she’s OK after Rose divines that she’s in trouble. His ride cancels on him mysteriously and he ends up forcing a taxi driver to take him by gunpoint. To be fair, Duncan does first offer to pay whatever the guy wants, but is rejected. While talking to Rose, the two decide to send the police in and she makes some joke about Hot Fuzz. This joke is then played out in full as when we see the police officers, they look just like Nick Frost and Simon Pegg in the film. It’s a fun nod.
I’m really curious to see how Grendel is going to be defeated. Will Beowulf arrive? Is Duncan able to do it himself? Who knows. What did you think of Once & Future #10?
