Let's Talk About ONCE & FUTURE #8

We have the next issue of Once & Future and I love it. This comic has quickly become one of my favorites. Once & Future #8 is available now through local comic shops or digital versions are available from digital distributors like comiXology. Kieron Gillen writes the story with art by Dan Mora.

Wow. Bridgette isn’t sure what’s going on. Wasn’t expecting that quite yet. She and Duncan are checking out Sutton Hoo and simply find some sandlewood candles. This leads to some confusion on their part. Duncan thinks Beowulf may be the story character they’re looking for, but Bridgette shoots that down saying it’s merely a poem. Shouldn’t she know better?

Meanwhile, in Otherworld. Lancelot is howling in pain. It’s pretty disgusting to be honest. However, Arthur is cheering him on when Beowulf shows up and starts fighting Arthur. This is actually a really cool moment, but some hooded wizard who turns out to be Merlin stops them and is able to get Beowulf to help Arthur. It is a little weird because Arthur doesn’t know Merlin. That’s only slightly off putting.

Back to Duncan and Bridgette. They start heading out, some cultists talk with Arthur without the pair knowing, and then Rose divines that trouble is brewing by them right as Beowulf jumps on their car and rips the roof off. That’s right, Duncan was right, and he’s not going to let you forget it.

This story is really getting interesting. Who is Merlin in this story? How long will Beowulf and Arthur play nice? I’m intrigued!
