Let's Talk About POWER RANGERS #2

Power Rangers #2 is out now, and it’s great! If you’re a fan of horror films, this is a real treat for you. The comic is written by Ryan Parrott with art by Francesco Mortarino, colors by Raúl Angulo, and letters by Ed Dukeshire. This is your last chance to abandon this article before spoilers arise. You can purchase physical copies through your local comic stores or digital copies through comiXology (affiliate link), Google Play, iBooks, and Madefire.

Two New Series. Two New Teams. The UNLIMITED POWER ERA continues as the Power Rangers betray Zordon! A new cosmic threat is here and the all-new Power Rangers team will put it all on the line to stop it, even if it means trusting their mortal enemy Lord Drakkon. But as the new threat launches its first offensive against the Power Rangers, the question remains -- will Drakkon act as friend or foe? After all, Drakkon always has a plan…

So, picking up where we left off in the preview, I am loving this story. I’m not a big fan of horror films, but I do enjoy suspense, and this one is full of it. Trini’s telling Drakkon to stuff it, Zack is playing with a ball, and Jason’s having that chat with XI when the power gives. They do the silly thing of splitting up to find out what’s going on and trying to get auxiliary power going, and that’s when crap happens.

Some space vampires called The Horrid show up and start attacking everyone. There are just a couple of problems with this. First, the Rangers’ weapons just phase through them. Second, they seem to have an infinite number. Neither of those things bode well for our heroes. The one who seems to be the leader goes after Drakkon and explains that they feed on life. That’s not great. Drakkon wants to cut a deal to save his life in exchange for the lives of others, and while The Horrid seems interested, they’re set on sucking the life out of the Omega Rangers first and then enslaving Drakkon. I don’t think Drakkon was expecting things to go so poorly. The question is, what effect will this have on him? Will this get Drakkon to cooperate with the Omegas? Will he end up being a double agent?

I love The Horrid. Their design is awesome, and this introduction to them has been incredible. They are not something to be messed with, and it’s scary to see the Rangers struggle with them. What’s going to happen? How are the Rangers going to get out of this mess?
