Let's Talk About POWER RANGERS #3

Power Rangers #3 dropped this week ,and it’s an interesting one. Ryan Parrott and Francesco Mortarino have gone down an intriguing route in the latest issue. You can find a physical copy from your local comic shop or a digital copy through outlets including comiXology (affiliate link).

Two New Series. Two New Teams. The UNLIMITED POWER ERA continues as Drakkon is the key to the Power Rangers' new mission. But to defeat the new cosmic threat, the new Power Rangers team - Jason, Trini, Zack and new members - has put their faith in their greatest enemy. And the only way they may be able to save the universe is by giving Drakkon exactly what he wants…

In this issue, the Omega Rangers and Xi have to find some way to deal with the Horrid. Xi helps formulate a plan that involves the Rangers fighting the Horrid to draw out the horde. I actually really like how Xi takes charge and the Rangers let him implement his plan. They recognize that they don’t always have the best ideas and sometimes you just need to let someone else try.

Xi ends up going after the leader of the Horrid with Yale and Drakkon kills the Horrid King which also destroys the horde of Horrid. It turns out that Drakkon had been broadcasting his talks to Xi in hopes of the info being used to help defeat the Horrid. Of course, Trini makes the astute conversation that Drakkon probably wasn’t all about stopping the Horrid, but was more interested in just playing both sides and teaming with the winning team. That is why she doesn’t trust Drakkon.

At the end, it appears that Drakkon has led them to his home dimension or something as we see things related to him disintegrating. There’s a sign for Angel Grove that says “Home of Lord Drakkon” as well as a destroyed Dragonzord and Tigerzord.

I’ll be honest, I was a little sad that the Horrid didn’t last longer. I actually really liked them, but it probably is best that they didn’t stick around too long. What did you think of Power Rangers #3?
