Let's Talk About SEVEN SECRETS #1

Seven Secrets is finally here, and I must say that I greatly enjoyed this first issue. The story comes from the team Tom Taylor, Daniele Di Nicuolo, and Walter Baiamonte with BOOM! Studios publishing. If you haven’t read the issue yet, you can get it from your local comic shop or digital outlets like comiXology.

The issue starts with a lot of talk about secrets, and really, in the end we don’t know much else about the plot of the story, but it looks fantastic and what little we did learn is interesting. Some bad guys are trying to learn the seven secrets. However, some other people protect the secrets. We’re then introduced to Sigurd and Eva who are a Keeper and a Holder over one of the secrets, and they seem to be in a bit of a jam.

Eva gets away and steals a motorcycle to protect the secret and then we have a flashback. The flashback is really where we probably get the most information about the story. Eva and Sigurd are there to protect the secret, but end up having a kid that they immediately give up. This kid seems to be the main protagonist of the story, and we don’t really get to meet them in this issue. We do find out that Tajana, one of the leaders of this secret society, seems to maybe have a heart.

The issue ends with Sigurd sacrificing his life and asking Eva to tell their child Caspar that he loved him. The bad guy Amon decapitates Sigurd, so I’m pretty sure this death is pretty final.

I really liked Seven Secrets #1, and I think one of my favorite bits was the exposition text in the following panel:
