Let's Talk About SEVEN SECRETS #9

Seven Secrets #9 dropped this week from BOOM! Studios, and it’s a freaking huge bomb! Tom Taylor, Daniele Di Nicuolo, and Walter Baiamonte are not letting us rest at all. Everything is just crazy right now, and I don’t know what’s going to happen next. BOOM! was kind enough to supply me with a copy to read, but you can find a copy at your local comic shop, comiXology, or wherever you like to purchase comics.

Picking up after the preview, this comic goes all out. The last members of the Order finally find a spot to rest and grieve and it looks like maybe things are going to slow down for an issue, but they don’t.

We cut over to Amon and the Seekers, and some guards are keeping him from entering the Council Chamber by order of the Council President. Amon quickly deals with the guards and then storms in. The is when we get very interesting details. First, we find out that the Seekers are run by a council of five members. Oh, and there’s something resembling a giant demon head hanging behind them. Amon walks in and is pissed about everything that has happened resulting in an entire country disappearing. He says his plan can still work even after these mishaps and demands a few things from the Council including the role as Council President so that others don’t try going behind his back. The Council agrees and kill the current president. Amon also orders that the families of the people that were lost in Switzerland receive a lifetime of pay which I think is rather nice of him. We still don’t know what their plan is, we just know that they want the Secrets and presumably to rule the world.

Going back to the Order, they need a new leader and after all the votes are tallied, Eva ends up becoming the new leader. The Keepers then shared all of the Secrets with Eva with some of them being shown, others being whispered, and then a giant whopping one revealed at the very end which prompts the reader and Eva to simultaneously say, “What the actual @#$%?!” The final Secret is Sigurd who’s alive somehow. He’s dressed as a plague doctor and now everyone has all the questions. Granted, in the comic only Eva knows, but still. A lot of questions are being raised right now!

I’m glad we got to learn more about the Seekers. I wish we could’ve learned a bit more about the various Secrets, but I guess that’s part of the fun. Honestly though, what the heck is going on with Sigurd? This comic would make an incredible TV series.
