Let's Talk About SOMETHING IS KILLING THE CHILDREN #3

Something is Killing the Children #3 came out earlier this week and it got a little intense. There wasn’t a lot of action, but it still got intense. If you haven’t read the latest issue from James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera, you’re going to want to stop reading now as spoilers are ahead.

This issue starts with a little girl being killed by a monster resembling a spider and this made me sad. Of course, we see signs that other kids have already been killed and there is a Ouija board, so this is just bad. We then cut over to a bar where an older man is very sad and talking to the bartender about his son who seemingly was killed. Then, behind him, there are some other people who are talking. I think the one guy was the manager of the diner Erica tried setting up shop at and he basically says that if the cops don’t lock up Erica, he’s going to have to kill her.

We then go to the interrogation scene from the preview. Erica more or less lays out how things are going to work with the cops when a member of the force comes in to say that five more kids are dead (I’m guessing the ones from the start of the issue). Erica is about to be charged with being drunk when the sheriff reluctantly lets her go.

Outside, James is waiting for Erica who is very upset because more kids are dead. She pulls out the weird stuffed octopus and yells at it. It explains that whatever she’s chasing is a Class B and not a Class E as they previously believed. This makes her furious and she and James start heading to find some weapons.

I’m wondering if Erica is looking for one demonic creature, or if there are actually several at play. I also wonder if that one guy is possessed and therefore going to be a very big and evil problem for her. As I said, this issue was intense and heavy. It just makes me want to go hug my kid. What did you think of the issue?
