Let's Talk About That One Surprising Cameo in SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse is packed full of over 280 Spider-Man characters, and that means there were a lot of cool, brief cameos. But, there was one cameo that stuck out more than others, it’s a cameo that surprised a lot of the fans in the theater, and if you haven’t watched the film yet, you might want to stop reading now because I’m going to enter spoiler territory.

During the story, Miles Morales is introduced to the Spider-Society on Earth-928, which not only saw him encounter hundreds of Spider-Man variants, it also included various villains that had left their own worlds and created anomalies elsewhere.

It’s during a scene where Miles is walking through various caged villains that we see a live-action version of Donald Glover as the villain The Prowler! This was such a cool moment and there was a loud gasp from the fans when he showed up.

Glover previously appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming as Aaron Davis, which is the true identity of The Prowler. He even referred to his off-screen nephew “Miles,” indicating that Miles Morales exists in the MCU.

There could be an ever deeper and interesting meaning to Glover’s The Prowler appearing in the film, and his appearance may have clued us in on what we were going to see happen at the end of the movie.

During the final act of the film, Miles ended up on Earth-42, which is a universe that never had a Spider-Man because Alchemax brought that universe’s radioactive spider across to ‘our’ Miles’ world. So, on Earth-42 it’s revealed that their Miles is The Prowler.

So, how does Glover connect with that? How could his appearance have clued you in on that reveal? Well, Glover has been linked to playing Miles Morales for years, it was even teased in an episode of Community. The actor also voiced the character in the Disney animated series Ultimate Spider-Man.

In Across The Spider-Verse, Glover is definitely the MCU version of Aaron Davis, but Glover, who has played Miles in the past, became the Prowler. I guess it is possible that because Glover is also Miles Morales in these other projects someone in his world interrupted a Canon Event.

This might be a stretch, but I thought it might be worth bringing up. Regardless, it was still awesome to see Glover appear in the movie! What did you think about his appearance!?
