Let's Talk About WYND #3
Holy heck, Batman! I just finished reading Wynd #3 from James Tynion IV and Michael Dialynas, and it is intense. If you haven’t read the issue yet, you can grab your copy now from your local comic shop or through digital outlets like comiXology.
I’m going to skip the part we saw in the preview. Where it picks up is with this cloaked being guiding Oakley and Wynd to a secret society place in the sewers where weirdbloods congregate. On the way, they explain the lore of the world to the two young people. It’s really interesting, and I’m glad it’s happening now instead of during a big climactic battle. Once they arrive to the secret place, they’re advised to see a witch who really turns out to be a doctor. The doctor, Myr, is there, and she does blood transfusions in an attempt to help stop the weirdblood from taking over a person. Then, she takes a look at Wynd and takes a small blood sample. This leads her to make some crazy discovery that we can’t learn yet. Sadly, the Bandaged Man arrives and hell breaks loose. The children barely seem to get away as the weirdbloods are dealt with (I’m assuming slaughtered). They’re told to go find Myr’s sister in Northport, though, and she’ll help them. I’m actually really sad we probably won’t see much more of Myr. She grew on me in the few pages we met her.
Then, the kids are making their way back to the tavern when some guards come to capture them. Titus arrives and fights off the guard to protect the kids as they run. Sadly, he’s probably a goner. Well, they finally make it back and are getting ready to go when the Bandaged Man appears and wants a drink. This means that Miss Molly has to attend to them and she puts Oakley in charge of getting Wynd, Rose, and Yorik out of there. See, Yorik has run away with Thorn, and the king thinks that he’s been kidnapped and stuff, causing all sorts of problems that the Bandaged Man is “solving.”
Sadly, the Bandaged Man knows what’s going on and is just giving them a head start to make the chase more exciting. He approaches Miss Molly, and we’re left to believe that she is murdered. This issue of the comic was so sad and intense. I loved it and hated it at the same time. What did you think of Wynd #3?
