Let's Talk About WYND #4
Wynd #4 is now available from BOOM! Studios, and we’ve got a chase! The comic comes from writer James Tynion IV and artist Michael Dialynas. It’s been a great comic so far about people being different and how we shouldn’t treat them poorly because of it. You can purchase physical copies of the comic from your local comic shop or digital copies through retailers like comiXology.
Wynd, Thorn, Yorik, and Oakley are trying to get to Southport via boat, and at first, the worst thing was Yorik’s poor attitude. Honestly, he drives me insane and makes me wish they just drowned him. He has the attitude of someone who thinks they deserve to be treated as a saint and wants credit for doing something to help others even though he doesn’t see the problem as a problem. At least he’s doing something? I know that his problematic attitude probably has more to do with how he was raised, but it gets really annoying real fast.
Well, the Bandaged Man shows up on a rather fast motorboat and gives the group a bit of a chase. Of course, Yorik is all pissy because he believes the whole reason for all the problems have been Wynd and the fact that the Bandaged Man can sense the magic in the boy. Thanks to Wynd and Oakley though, the group are able to cleverly escape. They get into the wild and after a bit, they meet Lady Gwendolyn, a magical faerie, who was supposed to be Thorn and Yorik’s contact. I personally really like her. Her design is cool, and they have a cool attitude. She provides comfort to Wynd who was feeling pretty down about everything which is something that frankly, no one else really could’ve done.
The following day, they go to look at Southport, but it’s crawling with Kingsmen. Their plan of escape? Gwendolyn is going to fly them out one by one. There’s no way this is going to be problem. Well, Oakley goes first even though I do agree that Yorik probably should’ve gone first. Yorik is then a jerk again in the name of humor, and Wynd loses it. Yelling about all the death that Yorik’s fleeing has inadvertantly caused. This helps shut Yorik up. Wynd then confesses that he always wanted to spend time with Thorn and feel normal. Sadly, the Bandaged Man is coming though and Wynd decides the best thing to do is try to lead him away from Yorik and Thorn, and that’s where we end.
Thorn is a saint. He puts up with Yorik and helps Wynd feel even slightly better about himself. It honestly feels like Yorik doesn’t care about anything, but Thorn was able to convince Yorik to do something and Thorn deserves a high-five for that. What did you think of Wynd #4?
