Liam Neeson Offers Update on Seth MacFarlane's THE NAKED GUN Reboot
Liam Neeson has made a lot of action flicks in his career, especially in the past several years, where he has cranked out thrillers and action-packed vehicles that have done pretty dang well in the box office. Those who have paid close attention to the actor’s career also know that he is also a skilled comedic actor, having starred and made cameos in several comedies as well. So it seems like a natural fit for Neeson to take on the starring role in the rebooted Naked Gun franchise.
Neeson recently sat down with CinemaBlend to chat about his thriller The Ice Road, and he was asked where he stands on the possibility of teaming up with Seth MacFarlane, who is heading up the remake. Neeson confirmed that he is all in, and while things are moving slowly because of the pandemic, everything is on track:
I know Seth and his team are working on a draft. I’m very excited, and I think and hope Seth might be directing it himself. No date has been set, I think, I believe it’s Paramount Pictures that approached Seth, and Seth approached me. This was about a year and a half ago, maybe two years ago. So it’ll either ruin my career, whatever’s left of it, or I’ll find another little adventure, you know?
Neeson previously worked with MacFarlane when they starred in A Million Ways To Die In The West, as well as Neeson’s cameos in Ted 2 and an episode of The Orville, so the pair go way back, and they know they’d work well together. I think Neeson will be outstanding in this movie, and is just the guy to live up to the level of comedy brought to the screen in the original film by star Leslie Nielson.
While it looks like things are moving slowly, it’s good to hear that everyone is on board and excited about the remake. I am looking forward to it. What do you think of Neeson starring in Naked Gun?
