Liam Neeson Returns as Qui-Gon Jinn in Dave Filoni's STAR WARS: TALES OF THE JEDI and More Exciting Details!

Star Wars fans will be happy to learn that Liam Neeson is officially set to reprise his role as Qui-Gon Jinn in Dave Filoni’s upcoming animated anthology series for Lucasfilm, Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi. On top of that, Neeson’s son will be voicing the younger version of the character, so they are keeping it in the family, which is pretty cool!

The younger version of the eventual Jedi Master will also appear alongside a younger version of Count Dooku, which is going to be incredibly interesting to see. The series will also tell new stories involving Mace Windu, Anakin Skywalker, and Ahsoka.

The show will consist of six episodes, and the stories it tells will span many years over the course of the franchise. Some stories include Ahsoka’s birth and childhood, stories set in the Jedi Temple, a reunion between Anakin and Ahsoka, Count Dooku fighting with Mace Mindu, and more.

The news was announced by Filoni himself during the Tales of the Jedi panel at Star Wars Celebration, and when talking about how the show came about, he said:

"When I fly back and forth working on The Mandalorian, I'd write stories on the plane to pass the time. And I got this story. I wanted to explore some characters... and base them on ideas I had while making The Clone Wars... that wouldn't be a full show."

He also talked about Ahsoka’s story and said:

"I thought of this adventure for Ahsoka for a long time, and it's interesting to see how it's evolved. Years ago, I never would have imagined that it was sprung from a branch of a tree that had anything to do with a guy [like] Din Djarin, or a child that looks like Yoda. It's a great lesson for me on how, when you have other creatives like Jon Favreau, they can help lend such dimension and depth to what you're doing."

Filoni went on to share the first episode and showed us a trailer for the series, and it looks freakin’ incredible! Any fan of the Star Wars animated series projects are going to love what this series has to offer! The fans in attendance at the panel went crazy, and I personally loved what I saw, and it was one of my favorite things at Star Wars Celebration this year! Get ready for some more great Star Wars storytelling!

The first episode was wonderful and charming, and it always amazes me how Filoni can really hit the emotional cord with his stories. This show is going to be awesome! Below you’ll find some first-look photos:
