Liam Neeson Says He'd Only Play Qui-Gon Jinn in a STAR WARS Project if it Was a Film
A lot of fans have been hoping to see Liam Neeson reprise his role as Qui-Gon Jinn in Lucasfilm’s upcoming Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi. While the actor has been open to playing this character again, in a recent interview with ComicBook, he explains it would have to be under one condition. When asked if he would ever reprise his role, the actor said:
“Oh, I think so, yeah, yeah, yeah, I think so... if it was a film. Yeah, I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to TV, I must admit, I just like the big screen, you know?"
He went on to reflect on playing Qui-Gon Jinn, saying:
"Qui-Gon, I can't believe it's 24 years since we made [Star Wars:] The Phantom Menace, I just cannot believe where the time has gone. It was a terrific experience, shooting that film in London."
Now, I just want to point out that Neeson isn’t opposed to appearing in TV shows as he’s done several of them! He most recently appeared in an episode of Derry Girls in 2022. He’s also done the voice for Qui-Gon Jinn in a couple of the Star Wars animated projects.
That being said, I don’t think he would say no if Lucasfilm asked him to come back to appear in an episode in Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series. He’s also been rumored to appear in the series. Who knows, maybe he’s just trying to throw people off the scent!
